Working groups.

Sharing and supporting Space Scotland’s goals are our working groups, talented experts working together for our mission.

About Working groups.

Space Scotland are driven by our dynamic Working Groups. Together, these groups create essential collaborative platforms for all Council members, actively encouraging engagement from non-members and representatives across the UK space sector. Within our Working Groups, we prioritise diversity and understanding, ensuring a wide spectrum of voices is heard, fostering innovation and progress within the organisation.

Through these collaborative endeavours, we strive to harness the full potential of our community, fueling our journey towards a brighter and more sustainable tomorrow. Join us in this collaborative movement to drive innovation, inspire change, and make a real and lasting impact in the UK space sector.

Environmental Task Force.

The Environmental Task Force, led by Space Scotland in collaboration with global partners across many sectors, including space, environment, government and academia, is dedicated to gaining a deeper understanding of the impact of space activities on Earth and low-Earth orbit.

Co-chaired by Kristina Tamane and Andrew Fournet, this task force welcomes participation from international organisations with a demonstrable interest in sustainable space practices. Together, we are committed to driving tangible outcomes and securing a more environmentally conscious future for space operations.

Responsive Launch Alliance.

The Responsive Launch Alliance, established in 2020, is a collaboration between the top space facilities in Scotland, including Space Scotland. Comprising vertical rocket launch sites like Shetland Space Centre, Space Hub Sutherland, and Spaceport 1, along with horizontal 'air launch' sites Glasgow Prestwick Spaceport and Machrihanish Airbase Community Company, the Alliance has set the stage for a new era of space activities.

However, the Alliance goes beyond Scotland’s borders, engaging with numerous UK-based space facilities for a collaborative approach that provides launch services for the global space market. Additionally, the UK Spaceport Alliance is promoting the UK and Scotland as leaders in the European space industry, emphasising a fully integrated commercial space capability, eco-friendly practices, and a commitment to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
