Environmental Task Force.
The Environmental Task Force, guided by Space Scotland and our global partners in industries including space, environmental, government and academia, are committed to understanding the space industry’s impact on Earth and low-Earth orbit.
Co-chaired by Andrew Fournet and Sharon Pryde, the group’s ongoing Sustainable Space Challenges initiative, exploring more sustainable approaches to space exploration, continues to be a success. You can find more about this and the Environmental Task Force’s other initiatives below.
Membership of the Environmental Task Force is open to global organisations as long as they have an demonstrable interest in space sustainability. Also, representatives must be able to commit enough time and energy to support successful outcomes.

Sustainable Space Challenges
With the Sustainable Space Challenges, representatives from various sectors collaborated to explore challenges related to the carbon footprint of the industry's value chain. The selected challenges were addressed through a series of collaborative workshops, fostering proactive engagement with environmental groups, working towards Net Zero goals.

The innovative Space Sustainability Roadmap is the latest of the Environmental Task Force’s activities, and it outlines a clear path towards a more sustainable Scottish space sector. Developed in consultation with international experts and stakeholders, it includes short, medium, and long-term work packages to support this goal.
